Why a lost filling or crown shouldn't wait
The tooth under a filling or crown was already weakened; that's why it needed one. Without its cover, it's open to temperature, food, bacteria and chewing forces it isn't built for. Common results of waiting a week or two:

If decay has crept under the old restoration, our dentist removes it first and tells you, with a written price, whether a filling still works or the tooth now needs a crown. Crowns are made and placed in this office; when it can safely be done the same day, it is. If the exposed tooth is painful to the touch, a root canal may be part of the plan.

Can you just glue my old crown back on?
If the crown is intact, fits well, and the tooth under it is healthy, yes: it's cleaned and re-cemented in one visit. If it's cracked, doesn't seat properly, or decay has developed underneath, re-cementing would trap the problem, and our dentist will show you why a new crown is the honest answer.
I swallowed my crown. Now what?
It happens, and it usually passes without harm. Call (770) 802-2220 and come in for the exam; the tooth still needs covering, and a new crown will be made. If you inhaled it rather than swallowed it, coughing or wheezing after, that's an emergency room visit.
Why did my filling fall out?
Fillings fail from age, from decay creeping in around the edge, from a crack in the tooth, or from chewing something hard. The X-ray usually shows which. Replacing the filling is straightforward; if a crack or decay caused it, that gets addressed too, so the new one lasts.
Does a lost filling always mean a root canal?
